L. Nichols’ FIRST ISSUE of Jumbly Junkery remastered and available now!
Ever wonder what my first issue of Jumbly Junkery looked like? Not too many people have seen it because I didn’t make that many.
Here it is in all its glory! 28 pages (cover to cover) of comics and drawings, 8.5”x11”!! Eye-popping color! Newly re-mastered and expanded. Consider this the hi-def digital edition director’s cut version of this comic. Everything I’d hoped it could be.
The cover to Pat Aulisio and Josh Bayer’s two-man comic The Unforgiving Blade of Conon. I’m really excited to read this because Pat and Josh are two of my favorite crazy lunatic maniacs (just kidding they’re really nice!).
And here is a stellar review of Pat’s Retrofit book BOWMAN. Out now!
RECOMMENDED READING
Just got Pat Aulisio’s BOWMAN in the mail yesterday and it’s a cool trip. Watching this after having read it was a particularly nice treat. I like Pat’s visual vocab here: the way he fills up panels with particulate/waveform energy and unique depictions of things like spaceship controls.
The ending feels pretty final, but might we hope that the fact that it refers to itself as “#1” on the cover and “Chapter 1” inside means there could be more to come?
Getting a subscription to Retrofit Comics was such a good idea. I’ll have to be sure to keep extending it for as long as they’re publishing monthly comics. How cool is it to have a subscription to sick-ass alt comic floppies from various artists? Real cool.
